The Lagos State Government has sealed off Irorun Plaza in the Oregun area of Ikeja for discharging raw sewage into a public drainage system, in violation of environmental safety regulations.
The Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Tokunbo Wahab, made the announcement via his official X (formerly Twitter) handle on Friday, revealing that the action was taken by the Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO).
According to Wahab, the plaza’s management had deliberately ignored a severely overfilled septic tank, allowing untreated wastewater to flow directly into the drainage despite repeated complaints from concerned residents.
He emphasized that the government remains committed to enforcing environmental laws and protecting public health.
