The Lagos State Government has launched the pilot phase of its groundbreaking “Identifier” project, a comprehensive digital addressing system aimed at revolutionising house numbering and street naming across the state.
Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu unveiled the initiative on Tuesday during the Nigeria Land Titling, Registration and Documentation Programme (NLTRDP) in Victoria Island, organised in collaboration with the Federal Ministry of Housing and Urban Development.
The project, starting next week in Ikeja, will assign a unique digital identity to every building in Lagos, enhancing navigation, service delivery, and urban management.
Equipped with QR codes and local government-specific colour coding, the system will enable residents, emergency responders, and utility providers to access property information instantly, including ownership, approvals, and billing details.
Governor Sanwo-Olu described it as a major step toward using technology to resolve land issues and secure property rights.
Housing Minister Ahmed Dangiwa commended Lagos for leading the way, noting that the initiative aligns with efforts to improve land titling nationwide and unlock the economic potential of land assets.
