In a significant boost to Lagos’ security infrastructure and rapid response capability, Lagos State Security Trust Fund (LSSTF) has commenced aerial surveillance operation of the metropolis
The initiative was officially unveiled on Monday by the Executive Secretary/Chief Executive Officer of LSSTF, Dr. Ayodele Ogunsan alongside the Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Moshood, Nigeria Police Air Wing, CP Martin Nwogoh, and the Administrative Director of LSSTF, Mr. Adegbola Lewis.
Following the unveiling, Ogunsan and top security officers embarked on an inaugural operational flight across strategic corridors in Lagos to assess coverage capacity and gain firsthand insight into how the platform will support surveillance and coordinated security operations.
Speaking during the launch, Ogunsan assured residents that the aerial surveillance would be conducted regularly and deployed strategically to complement existing ground-based security operations.
“This initiative is designed to enhance rapid response, improve situational awareness and strengthen coordinated security operations among relevant agencies,” the LSSTF CEO said.
Ogunsan expressed gratitude to Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu for endorsing the project and commended corporate donors and partners whose contributions made the deployment possible.
“We deeply appreciate Mr. Governor’s unwavering support and the invaluable backing of our donors who share in our vision of a safer Lagos,” Ogunsan added.
Other senior security officials present at the event included DCP Lawal Adesina, Deputy Commissioner of Police (Operations), Lagos Command; ACP Oyewuwo Tesleem, Flight Operations, Police Air Wing; CSP Sunday Abraham, pilot with the Nigeria Police Air Wing; CSP Nuradeen Kusa; CSP Shola Jejejeloye, Commander of the Rapid Response Squad and CSP Silver Gwamma, Flight Engineer, Police Air Wing.
The aerial surveillance platform is expected to enhance intelligence gathering, crime prevention, and emergency response across Lagos’ densely populated urban and peri-urban areas.
