No fewer than 132 suspects have been arrested and over 220 kilograms of drugs recovered as the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency dismantled major drug distribution points across Abuja.
The arrests and seizures followed a coordinated two-week operation carried out between April 11 and 25, 2026, by operatives of the Agency’s Directorate of Operations and General Investigation (DOGI) in collaboration with the FCT Strategic Command.
The exercise targeted identified drug hotspots after weeks of intelligence gathering and surveillance.
Areas raided during the operation include Torabora Hills, Area 3, Gwarinpa, AYA, Durumi, Banex, Dei-Dei, Kubwa, Apo, Kwali, Gwagwalada, Wuse Zone 4, Garki Area 10, Jabi and the Suleja axis, where several notorious drug joints and bunks were dismantled.
Recovered substances from the raids include 214.79 kilograms of skunk, 5.524 kilograms of Diazepam, 2.352 kilograms of Exol, 1.119 kilograms of Tramadol, as well as smaller quantities of cocaine, Rohypnol, methamphetamine, ecstasy and codeine syrup.
Spokesman of the agency, Femi Babafemi, said the operation dealt a significant blow to drug trafficking networks operating within the Federal Capital Territory.
“This well-coordinated offensive was the outcome of sustained intelligence and surveillance aimed at dismantling drug hubs fueling abuse and criminality in the FCT,” he stated.
Despite resistance encountered in some locations, including Durumi Area 1 and the Suleja market axis, operatives maintained control of the situation.
“Our officers demonstrated a high level of professionalism and resilience, subduing attempts to obstruct the operation without recording any casualty,” Femi Babafemi added.
He noted that the success of the operation underscores the agency’s commitment to sustained pressure on drug cartels. “The Agency remains resolute in its mandate to disrupt both the supply and demand of illicit substances.
The operational model deployed in Abuja will be replicated in other high-risk urban centres,” Femi Babafemi said.
Chairman/Chief Executive of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended the officers involved in the operation, describing their efforts as critical to ongoing attempts to rid communities of drug-related threats.
