In Lagos, operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) have foiled an attempt by a convicted drug trafficker, currently serving a five-year jail term at the Ikoyi Correctional Centre, to export 1.10 kilograms of cocaine to London through the Murtala Muhammed International Airport.
The agency disclosed this in a statement on Sunday, February 15, 2026, by its Director, Media & Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, who detailed a string of interdictions across multiple states.
Babafemi identified the convict as Olashupo Michael Oladimeji, who was convicted in 2025 by a Federal High Court in Lagos for conspiracy to export 17.90 kilograms of cocaine.
“Despite serving a jail term, the convict initiated a fresh trafficking scheme from prison, using his logistics company to attempt the export of cocaine concealed in processed cassava granules, popularly known as garri,” Babafemi said.
He explained that NDLEA officers at the airport’s export shed intercepted the consignment on February 12, describing it as “a compressed block of cocaine hidden in a sack of garri and further packaged inside a carton.
”A staff member of the logistics company, Adedeji Yusuf Gbolahan, was arrested while presenting the cargo for export.
Investigations subsequently revealed that the scheme was orchestrated from prison.
In Abuja, NDLEA operatives intercepted a consignment sent from Enugu concealed inside a children’s toy guitar.“A search of the guitar uncovered two parcels of Canadian Loud, a strong strain of cannabis, weighing 59.2 grams,” Babafemi disclosed, adding that the owner of the consignment, Henry Onuma, was later arrested at Dream City Estate, Life Camp.
At the Lagos airport export shed, another suspect, estate surveyor Adelaja Taiwo Adetayo, was arrested for attempting to ship 1.70 kilograms of skunk concealed in five jerry cans to the United Kingdom.
The cargo agent who presented the consignment was initially arrested, while a follow-up operation led to the arrest of Adelaja.
Babafemi further revealed that NDLEA officers raided a four-bedroom duplex in Ikate-Elegushi, Lekki, used for the production and storage of Colorado, a synthetic cannabis variant known as “Colos.”
“The raid followed the seizure of 73 cartons of nitrous oxide along the Ajah–Epe Expressway. At the Lekki property, 13.2 kilograms of freshly produced Colos and precursor chemicals were recovered,” he said.
Two suspects — Amos Innocent and Victor Oyedeji — were arrested in connection with the operation.
Meanwhile, the Chairman/Chief Executive Officer of NDLEA, Mohamed Buba Marwa, commended officers across various commands for the arrests and seizures, urging them to sustain their efforts in the ongoing fight against drug trafficking.
