Senator Ned Nwoko has warned against the circulation of fabricated reports about the health and alleged death of his estranged wife, Regina Daniels, urging social media users to show compassion and allow her to recover in peace.
Nwoko made the appeal on Monday in a statement shared on his verified social media handle, particularly urging Regina’s fans, friends, bloggers and social media commentators to stop spreading false information and give the actress the support she needs.
The Senator said Regina had been through a lot and needed love, support and an opportunity to recover rather than public criticism and further distress.
“Regina has been through a lot, more than many people may realise, and right now, what she needs most is love, support and the opportunity to recover,” he said.
The senator also appealed to the public to consider the welfare of their children, saying they deserved to see their mother supported and given every opportunity to get better.
“The video she shared on her birthday gave people a glimpse of some of the health challenges she has been dealing with. As someone who knows what she has been through, I can tell you that this is not a time to judge, vilify or add to her burdens. It is a time to show compassion and allow her the opportunity to heal,” he said.
Nwoko expressed concern over what he described as the circulation of false and disturbing reports about the actress, including fabricated death announcements and misleading stories about her health and personal circumstances.
He said such publications were not harmless social media engagement, adding that Regina saw many of the posts and found them deeply distressing.
“These things are not harmless social media engagement. Regina sees many of these posts, and they are deeply distressing. They do nothing to support her recovery; rather, they add to the burden she is already carrying,” he said.
He urged her fans to help discourage the spread of such reports rather than amplify them, stressing that her well-being remained important to him despite the difficulties in their relationship.
The senator also warned those deliberately spreading false information about the actress that they could face legal consequences.
“Let me make this very clear: I will not tolerate the deliberate spread of false information about Regina, particularly fabricated reports about her death, health or personal circumstances,” he said.
Nwoko added that the publications were being documented and that those found responsible would be held accountable through appropriate legal channels.
“We are documenting these publications, and anyone found responsible will be held accountable through the appropriate legal channels. There is a limit to what should be tolerated, and that limit has been reached,” he said.
He concluded by reiterating his appeal for the actress to be allowed to recover without being subjected to what he described as a daily wave of fabricated stories.
