The National Sports Commission (NSC) has dismissed speculation over unpaid bonuses for the Super Falcons, confirming that all outstanding payments were made before the team’s final match against Morocco.
NSC Director-General, Bukola Olopade, stated this during an appearance on Arise TV on Friday, noting that he had personally spoken to both Falcons’ captain, Rasheedat Ajibade, and officials of the Nigeria Football Federation (NFF). “I can confirm authoritatively that all their bonuses have been paid. I spoke with Ajibade yesterday and with the NFF, and everybody is on the same page,” Olopade said.
He added that while one or two players may still have pending transactions due to Central Bank processing delays, the President’s promise to the team would be honoured in full.Olopade further disclosed that the NSC is collaborating with the Ministry of Works and Housing, as well as the Renewed Hope Housing Initiative, to deliver houses promised to the team.
Emphasising that “the NSC doesn’t play with the remuneration and welfare of athletes,” he assured that all issues would be resolved promptly.
His remarks came in response to Ajibade’s recent comments expressing concerns over unpaid rewards and match bonuses from the team’s 2024 WAFCON victory.
