    OAU Medical Student Dies During Clinical Examination

    The management of Obafemi Awolowo University has announced the sudden death of a medical student, Oreoluwa Emmanuel Adewole, a Part IV student in the institution’s College of Health Sciences.

    ‎In a statement issued on Thursday, the university’s Public Relations Officer, Abiodun Olarewaju, disclosed that the incident occurred during a clinical viva examination when the student reportedly complained of chest pain.

    ‎According to the statement, the student was immediately attended to by lecturers and fellow medical students present at the venue. Despite prompt intervention and efforts to revive him, he was confirmed dead.

    ‎“The tragic loss has sent shockwaves through the university community,” the statement said.
    ‎
    ‎The Vice-Chancellor, Adebayo Simeon Bamire, on behalf of the Governing Council, Senate, staff and students, extended condolences to the family of the deceased.
    ‎
    ‎He also sympathised with the student’s colleagues, friends, and members of the College of Health Sciences, describing the incident as a painful and irreparable loss.
    ‎
    ‎The university added that it is engaging with relevant authorities and the family of the deceased to provide necessary support, while efforts are ongoing to ascertain the full circumstances surrounding the incident.
