Operatives of the Anti-Robbery Squad attached to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID) of the Ogun State Police Command have arrested a suspected armed robber, identified as Adenekan, popularly known as “Expensive.”
Two pump-action firearms were recovered from the suspect following credible intelligence, according to the police.
The spokesperson for the command, DSP Oluseyi Babaseyi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Saturday via the Ogun State Police Command’s official social media handle.
Babaseyi said that on Sunday, December 14, 2025, actionable intelligence revealed that the suspect was unlawfully in possession of pump-action firearms, which he allegedly brandished during a minor disagreement with another individual.
He explained that operatives acted swiftly on the information, leading to the arrest of the suspect and the recovery of the two pump-action rifles.
The police spokesperson added that investigations are ongoing to trace the source of the recovered firearms, after which the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
Meanwhile, the Commissioner of Police, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, has commended the operatives for their prompt response and reiterated the command’s zero-tolerance stance on armed robbery and the illegal possession of firearms.
Ogunlowo assured residents of the state of the command’s commitment to sustaining peace and security, urging members of the public to continue providing timely and credible information to the police through established emergency lines.
