The Ondo State Police Command has arrested a 32-year-old man, James Osita, over an alleged case of defilement involving a minor in Asio community, Ile-Oluji/Oke Igbo Local Government Area of the state.
The state Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Abayomi Jimoh, disclosed this in a statement issued on Monday, noting that the incident was reported on Thursday, February 5, 2026.
According to Jimoh, a report was lodged at a police station by a male resident, identified as Uchena, alleging that a 13-year-old girl was sexually abused by the suspect at about 4:00 p.m. on the day of the incident.
“Upon receipt of the report, the victim was promptly rescued and taken for medical examination. The suspect was immediately apprehended and is currently in custody, where he reportedly made useful statements and confessed to the commission of the crime,” the police spokesman said.
Jimoh added that during preliminary investigation, the victim alleged that the suspect had committed similar acts on previous occasions.
He stated that the suspect would be charged to court upon the conclusion of investigations.
The command commended members of the public for their timely report and urged residents to remain vigilant and continue to provide credible and actionable information to the police to enhance crime prevention and prompt intervention.
