The Kebbi State Police Command has recorded another major breakthrough in its ongoing fight against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes across the state.
In a statement by CSP Nafi’u Abubakar, Police Public Relations Officer Kebbi State Command, the incident occurred on 2nd November 2025, when a group of about twelve armed bandits invaded Ukuhu, Tungar Wazga, and Unguwar Chiroma villages in Danko/Wasagu Local Government Area, kidnapping ten residents.
According to the statement, the Divisional Police Officer (DPO), Danko, after receiving a distress call, mobilized a combined team of policemen and local vigilantes. The team pursued the attackers, blocked their escape route at Marina village, near the Zamfara border, and engaged them in gun battle.
“The aggressive confrontation forced the armed bandits to abandon some of their captives and flee into the Zamfara forest with possible gunshot injuries,” CSP Abubakar stated. During the rescue operation, six victims: Abubakar Abubakar (25), Nasiru Magawata (18), Abdul Magawata (15), Buhari Ukuhu (17), Kamalu Magawata (12), and Naziru Magawata (11) were rescued unhurt. They have since been reunited with their families after undergoing medical examination.
Abubakar further disclosed that efforts are ongoing to rescue the remaining four abducted victims, with intensified search and rescue operations underway to track down the fleeing suspects.
While commending the success of the operation, the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello Sani, applauded the DPO Danko and his team for their swift response, professionalism, and gallantry.
“The Command remains resolute and unwavering in its commitment to safeguarding the lives and property of the good people of Kebbi State,” Sani reaffirmed.
He also urged continued collaboration between security agencies and the public, emphasizing the importance of providing timely and accurate information that can assist in crime prevention and rapid response to security threats.
