Operatives of the Lagos State Police Command have arrested one Amos Kini, a security guard, for abducting a two-year-old child in the Elemoro area of Lagos.
The incident occurred on 21st September 2025 at about 11:50 p.m., when the distraught mother of the victim reported at Elemoro Police Division that her security guard had fled with her son and mobile phone to an unknown location.
The suspect later used the stolen phone to contact the child’s father, demanding a ransom of ₦5 million for the boy’s release.
According to the Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Adebisi Abimbola, officers from Elemoro Division immediately swung into action upon receiving the report.
“The scene was promptly visited and documented, while one Aruna Dauda, who stood as guarantor for the suspect before his employment, was taken in for questioning,” she said.
She further disclosed that sustained intelligence-led operations and coordinated surveillance compelled the suspect to release the child unharmed.
However, the manhunt continued until 23rd September 2025 at about 2:00 p.m., when operatives of the Tactical Squad (Hyena), acting on credible intelligence, tracked and arrested Kini at his hideout within the Elemoro area.
“The suspect has confessed to the crime and remains in custody. He will be charged to court upon conclusion of investigations,” Abimbola stated. The Commissioner of Police, CP Olohundare Jimoh, condemned the abduction, describing it as “a heartless crime against an innocent child.”
He reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to tackling violent and capital crimes across Lagos, while urging parents and guardians to remain vigilant.
The Command also encouraged members of the public to report suspicious activities through its emergency lines: 08063299264, 09053872208, and 08087332678.
