The Inspector-General of Police, IGP Olatunji Disu, has assured the Police Community Relations Committee (PCRC) of continued cooperation, emphasizing the importance of community-driven intelligence in policing.
The assurance came as the IGP received a delegation of the PCRC on a courtesy visit at the Force Headquarters, Abuja, in a meeting that underscored the critical role of community partnership in enhancing national security.
The delegation, led by the National Chairman of the PCRC, Alhaji Mogaji Olaniyan, comprised members of the National Executive Committee and representatives from various commands across the country.
In his remarks, Olaniyan congratulated the IGP on his appointment and reaffirmed the PCRC’s unwavering support for the Nigeria Police Force, noting the Committee’s long-standing role in fostering trust between the police and the public.
“The PCRC remains committed to supporting the Nigeria Police Force in strengthening community relations and promoting effective policing. We assure you of our continued loyalty and cooperation,” he said.
He further commended the Inspector-General for recognising the strategic importance of the PCRC in intelligence gathering and community engagement.
Responding, IGP Disu expressed appreciation for the Committee’s consistent support and highlighted the indispensable role of community-based intelligence in modern policing.
“Community-driven intelligence remains a cornerstone of effective policing. The partnership between the Police and the PCRC is vital in addressing security challenges and ensuring safer communities,” the IGP stated.
The police boss also charged members of the Committee to uphold integrity and ensure that the platform is not misused.
“PCRC leadership must maintain strict oversight to ensure that its identity and structure are not abused. Members must remain law-abiding and exemplary, as this is key to sustaining the credibility of our partnership,” he added.
The meeting reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to strengthening collaboration with community stakeholders as part of broader efforts to enhance security and public trust nationwide.
