Operatives of Police Mobile Force (PMF), Birnin Kebbi, have foiled an attack by armed bandits in Zodi Village, Zuru Local Government Area of Kebbi State, recovering stolen livestock and neutralising several members of the criminal gang.
In a statement signed by the Police Public Relations Officer, CSP Nafi’u Kotarkoshi, the armed bandits, who stormed the community in large numbers on 29 November 2025, rustled an unspecified number of animals and attempted to flee the area.
Kotarkoshi stated that the PMF personnel swiftly responded to the distress call and engaged the bandits in a fierce exchange of gunfire, forcing them to abandon their loot and escape into the forest with serious injuries.
He said a subsequent search of the area led to the recovery of two motorcycles, 96 cows and 45 sheep, all believed to have been stolen during the attack.
According to him, the recovered livestock were handed over to the village head of Zodi for safe keeping and eventual return to their rightful owners, while the motorcycles were transferred to the Divisional Police Officer in Zuru for further investigation and verification.
The Kebbi State Police Command reaffirmed its commitment to intensifying operations against banditry, kidnapping, and other violent crimes, urging residents to remain vigilant and report suspicious movements promptly.
