The Gombe State Police Command has rescued a businessman who was abducted by armed attackers during a raid on his cattle ranch in Tingile Village, Birin Fulani area of Nafada Local Government Area.
The rescue was carried out in a joint operation involving police operatives, local hunters and vigilante members, according to a statement issued on Wednesday by the Police Public Relations Officer, DSP Buhari Abdullahi.
Abdullahi said the incident occurred in the early hours of Wednesday when unknown assailants armed with sticks, cutlasses and knives invaded the ranch of Alhaji Adamu Bappah, beat him and his son, and abducted him to an unknown location.
“On 11th February 2026 at about 0300hrs, unknown persons armed with sticks, cutlasses and knives invaded the cattle ranch of Alhaji Adamu Bappah, 48, of Tingile Village via Birin Fulani,” he said.
He added that the victim’s son sustained injuries during the attack and was rushed to a hospital for treatment.
The spokesman said the victim was later rescued the same day at Dawo bush area of Kwani Local Government Area, where he was taken to a hospital for medical examination before being reunited with his family.
“The victim was safely rescued at Dawo bush area of Kwani Local Government Area and immediately taken to the hospital for medical examination before reuniting with his family,” Abdullahi stated.
He said efforts were ongoing to track down and apprehend the fleeing suspects.
“The Command reassures the public of its unwavering commitment to combating crime and ensuring the safety and security of all residents within Gombe State,” he added.
