The Inspector-General of Police, Olatunji Rilwan Disu, has reaffirmed the Nigeria Police Force’s commitment to national security, following his participation in the commissioning of key security projects in Ogun State.
The Force said the IGP’s presence at the event underscores the strategic importance of security to national development and reflects ongoing collaboration between the Police and state authorities to safeguard lives and property.
Speaking on the development, the Force noted that security remained a central focus of the commissioning, with the rollout of operational assets designed to strengthen policing capacity across the state.
“The attendance of the Inspector-General at this landmark occasion highlights the unwavering commitment of the Nigeria Police Force to enhancing security nationwide and supporting initiatives that improve operational effectiveness,” the Force said.
The newly commissioned assets, including security vehicles and electric motorbikes, are expected to boost rapid response and improve patrol efficiency.
According to the Force, “These assets will significantly enhance the operational capabilities of officers on the ground, ensuring quicker response to incidents and improved visibility in communities.”
The IGP also commended the Ogun State Government for its proactive investment in security infrastructure, describing it as critical to maintaining peace and public safety.
“The Inspector-General applauds the Ogun State Government for its foresight and commitment to strengthening security architecture, which remains a cornerstone for sustainable development,” the statement added.
Reaffirming the Police’s resolve to tackle evolving threats, the IGP emphasised the importance of sustained collaboration with stakeholders at all levels.
“The Nigeria Police Force will continue to work closely with state governments and relevant partners to address emerging security challenges and ensure the safety of all citizens,” the Force said.
The statement further assured Nigerians of the Police’s vigilance and dedication to duty.
“We remain resolute in our mandate to protect lives and property, support national development and maintain law and order across the country,” it added.
The Force also expressed appreciation to dignitaries, including the Ogun State Governor and other stakeholders, for their continued partnership in advancing security initiatives.
It urged members of the public to cooperate with law enforcement agencies by providing timely and credible information.
“Security is a collective responsibility. We encourage residents to remain vigilant and report any suspicious activities to the appropriate authorities,” the statement said.
