Lagos State Governor, Mr. Babajide Sanwo-Olu, on Friday inaugurated a series of landmark projects in the Agboyi-Ketu and Bariga Local Council Development Areas (LCDAs), underscoring his administration’s commitment to empowering local governments and enhancing grassroots development.
In Agboyi-Ketu LCDA, the Governor commissioned the Otunba Bushura Alebiosu Multipurpose Building, Agboyi Community Primary School, Agboyi-Ketu ICT Hub, Oba Taiwo Adesegun Lamina Sports Centre, and a network of four roads—all facilitated by the Council Chairman, Hon. Dele Osinowo.
Similarly, in Bariga LCDA, projects unveiled included a legislative chamber, 21 roads, five primary healthcare centres, three newly built primary schools, and a fire station, executed by the administration of Hon. Kolade Alabi.
Speaking during the ceremonies, Sanwo-Olu applauded the council leadership for delivering tangible dividends of democracy.
He emphasized that the 57 local councils in Lagos enjoy full autonomy, enabling them to undertake impactful initiatives without state interference.
“As we formally commission these projects, let this achievement resound across every corner of Lagos. From Bariga to Badagry, from Ikorodu to Epe, we are building a Lagos that works for all,” he said.
The Governor urged incoming council administrations to build on the achievements of their predecessors while calling on residents to safeguard public assets. “Use these facilities well, protect them diligently, and ensure they remain vibrant community centres for years to come.
The government will continue to invest in you, but we also need your active involvement to sustain progress,” he advised.Outgoing Agboyi-Ketu Chairman Hon. Dele Osinowo described the projects as his administration’s parting gifts, expressing confidence that his successor, Mrs. Adetola Abubakar, would consolidate on the gains.
In Bariga, Hon. Kolade Alabi noted that the initiatives were designed to improve living standards and announced the renaming of key streets, including Community Road, which is now Babajide Sanwo-Olu Road.
