The Special Adviser on Central Internal Audit to the Lagos State Governor, Dr. Oyeyemi Ayoola has extended support to about 500 widows and elderly citizens in the Mushin and Odi-Olowo areas of the State.

The empowerment outreach, held on Saturday in Mushin, featured the distribution of essential food items and cash gifts to beneficiaries drawn from various wards across the two local government areas.

Speaking at the event, Ayoola said the gesture was inspired by her desire to identify with members of her constituency who have remained steadfast in their support for Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s administration over the past six years and President Bola Ahmed Tinubu’s leadership in the past two years.

“This is not about politics; it’s about humanity. Our elders have sacrificed so much for the growth of our society. They deserve care, love, and attention. This gesture is simply a way of appreciating them and letting them know they are not forgotten,” Ayoola stated.

She explained that giving back to society reflects one of the core values of both the Tinubu-led Federal Government and the Sanwo-Olu administration, which continue to prioritise the welfare of citizens — especially widows, the elderly, and other vulnerable groups.

Ayoola stressed that the initiative was driven by gratitude and empathy, expressing appreciation to the senior citizens and widows for their unwavering support to the APC-led government despite personal challenges.

She also called for continued cooperation and patience, assuring that the government remains committed to economic recovery and long-term national stability.“The government alone cannot do everything or meet all expectations.

“Those of us who are privileged must be our brothers’ keepers — it’s a shared responsibility,” she added.I

n his remarks, Senator Ganiyu Solomon, a member of the Governor’s Advisory Council (GAC) and Apex Leader in Mushin, Ajina, and Odi-Olowo Ojuwoye, commended Ayoola for her consistent contributions to community development and social welfare.

“It’s not easy to take from one’s personal resources to support others. When individuals step up like this, we must acknowledge and celebrate them,” Senator Solomon noted, urging other public servants, business leaders, and philanthropists to emulate her example.

Several beneficiaries of the outreach expressed heartfelt gratitude to Ayoola and the Sanwo-Olu administration for remembering widows and elderly citizens, describing the gesture as timely, impactful, and compassionate.

The event was widely applauded as a reflection of the administration’s inclusive governance and its continuing effort to uplift vulnerable citizens and strengthen social bonds at the grassroots.
