The Lagos State Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has issued a stern warning to the general public over the activities of fraudsters attempting to extort money from unsuspecting individuals under the pretense of offering employment into the State’s teaching sector.
In a statement released on Monday, the Permanent Secretary of TESCOM, Mrs. Bopo Oyekan-Ismaila, cautioned members of the public against falling for scams promising teaching job placements or shortlisting opportunities in exchange for money.
“The recruitment process into the Lagos State Public Service is entirely merit-based and free of any monetary involvement,” she said.
She clarified that while the online application portal for the recruitment of teachers has recently closed, “TESCOM is yet to commence the shortlisting of candidates,” adding that “anyone claiming to facilitate employment or sell teaching slots is simply a fraudster.”
Backing the alert, the agency’s Head, Public Affairs, Segun Adeoye, emphasized that “notices being shared on WhatsApp and other platforms requesting money to check dashboards or secure recruitment are false and should be ignored.”
He urged job seekers and the public to remain vigilant and report suspicious activities to appropriate authorities.
