President Bola Ahmed Tinubu and First Lady Oluremi Tinubu have paid glowing tribute to Pastor Enoch Adeboye, General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God (RCCG), on the occasion of his 84th birthday, describing him as “one of our nation’s greatest gifts.”
In a joint message marking the cleric’s birthday on March 2, 2026, the President and the First Lady extolled Adeboye’s spiritual leadership, humility and enduring contributions to national development.
“Pastor Enoch Adeboye, the General Overseer of the Redeemed Christian Church of God, is one of our nation’s greatest gifts – a spiritual fortress, interceding for Nigeria and its people to God Almighty,” the President stated.
He praised the revered cleric’s character and depth of insight, noting that his influence extends far beyond the pulpit.
“His humility is genuine, and his wisdom runs deep beyond the ordinary. His contributions to our nation extend beyond the pulpit, where he ministers to souls, to philanthropy, healthcare, education and economic empowerment,” Tinubu said.
The President described Adeboye’s life as a remarkable testament to stewardship and faithful leadership, adding that the nation joins the global Christian community in celebrating him.
“We celebrate the grace of stewardship and leadership upon the life of Pastor Adeboye, fondly called Daddy G.O., as he marks his 84th birthday,” he said. “We congratulate him and join his wife, Pastor Foluke, members of the RCCG, and the Body of Christ in gratitude to God for the General Overseer’s exceptional life of impact that transcends cultures and borders.”
Tinubu expressed appreciation for what he called Adeboye’s unwavering commitment to Nigeria’s progress, particularly through prayers and moral guidance.
“We thank the Lord’s own servant for his unceasing prayers for our nation and commend his patriotic zeal, manifest determination and commitment to Nigeria’s progress,” the President declared.
Acknowledging the cleric’s far-reaching legacy, Tinubu noted that Adeboye’s teachings over more than five decades have shaped generations.
“We acknowledge the unique leadership role of the renowned clergyman, whose teachings over the past five decades continue to shape and transform lives across generations in the country and beyond,” he added.
As the octogenarian marks another milestone, the President and the First Lady offered prayers for continued strength and longevity.
“As Daddy G.O. celebrates this special day, we pray that God Almighty continues to bless him with good health and strength as he continues his good work in the Lord’s vineyard,” the statement concluded.
Adeboye, one of Nigeria’s most influential religious leaders, has led the RCCG for decades, overseeing its expansion across continents and cementing its place as a global Pentecostal movement.
