Troops of Sector 2, Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, have neutralised three terrorists and recovered a cache of arms and ammunition during a fighting patrol operation in Zamfara State.
The operation was carried out on May 7 in Kaura Namoda and Birnin Magaji Local Government Areas as part of ongoing efforts to curb terrorism and other criminal activities in the state.
This was disclosed in a statement issued on Thursday by the Media Information Officer of Joint Task Force North West Operation FANSAN YAMMA, Lieutenant Colonel Aliyu Danja.
According to the statement, troops encountered armed terrorists at Doumbourum Village, leading to a fierce exchange of gunfire.
“The troops engaged the terrorists with superior firepower, successfully neutralising three of the criminals during the encounter,” the statement said.
Items recovered during the operation included one AK-47 rifle, one machine gun, one locally fabricated handgun, seven rifle magazines, and 571 rounds of ammunition.
The task force further stated that no casualty was recorded among the troops involved in the operation.
It described the latest success as part of sustained military efforts to deny terrorists freedom of movement and restore peace across the North-West region.
The statement added that the achievements recorded by the troops reflected their resilience, professionalism, and commitment to ongoing counter-terrorism operations.
The task force also urged residents to continue supporting security agencies with timely and credible intelligence to aid ongoing operations across the region.
