The All Progressives Congress (APC) has released the composition of its Presidential Campaign Council ahead of the 2027 elections, appointing former Zamfara State Governor, Senator Abdulaziz Yari, as Director-General and Imo State Governor, Hope Uzodimma, as Secretary.

President Bola Ahmed Tinubu will serve as Chairman of the council, while Vice President Kashim Shettima and APC National Chairman, Professor Nentawe Yilwatda, will serve as Vice Chairmen.

The composition of the council was contained in a statement issued on Saturday by the Special Adviser to the President (Information and Strategy) and Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication of the APC Presidential Campaign Council, Bayo Onanuga.

Onanuga said President Tinubu had charged members of the council to work tirelessly to secure victory for the party in the January 2027 elections.

He said the campaign council would draw on the experience of senior party leaders and officials across various directorates to coordinate the APC’s campaign activities.

According to him, “We have delivered on our campaign promises and set our country on a path of economic progress. We are definitely out of the dark tunnel and are now at the cusp of reaping the benefits of a prosperous economy that will benefit all Nigerians.”

He added, “As we march into the campaign season, we have many achievements to trumpet; let us confidently showcase our record and inspire hope in every corner of our nation. Let us soundly defeat all those forces who plan to take our country backwards.”

The campaign council will also have a team of advisers comprising former APC National Chairman, Chief Bisi Akande; Chief Segun Osoba; Senator Rochas Okorocha; former APC National Chairman, Senator Abdullahi Adamu; and Senator Florence Ita Giwa.

Senate President Godswill Akpabio, Speaker of the House of Representatives Tajudeen Abbas and Yobe State Governor Mai Mala Buni were named Deputy Directors-General for the campaign in the South and North. They will work with Senator Opeyemi Bamidele and Senator Jibril Barau in the two zones.

Senator Adams Oshiomhole was appointed Deputy Director-General in charge of mobilisation, while the President’s Chief of Staff was named Deputy Director-General for Administration.

James Abiodun Faleke, who played a key role in the 2022/2023 campaign, was reappointed Deputy Director-General for Election Planning, Coordination and Monitoring.

Faleke will work with zonal directors comprising Senator Olushola Adeyeye for the South-West, Dr Ngozi Olejeme for the South-South, Senator Uche Ekwunife for the South-East, Muntaqha Rabe for the North-West, Ahmed Muhammed Ketso for the North-Central and Senator Sani Danladi for the North-East.

The Election Planning Directorate will also have Stella Okotete, Engineer Abdullahi Garba Ramat and Audu Maikori as secretaries.

Muiz Adeyemi Banire was appointed Director of the Legal Directorate, with Dr Liman Hassan and Babatunde Ogala as deputies. Other members of the directorate include Prince Lateef Fagbemi, former Katsina State Governor Ibrahim Shema, Worgu Boms and Dr Kingsley Tochukwu Udeh.

In the Media and Strategic Communication Directorate, the Minister of Information and National Orientation, Mohammed Idris Malagi, will serve as Coordinating Director alongside Dele Alake, Bayo Onanuga and Lanre Issa-Onilu.

Tunde Rahman, Sunday Dare, Daniel Bwala and Felix Morka were appointed Coordinating Deputy Directors, while Abdulaziz AbdulAziz, Temitope Ajayi, Arabinrin Aderonke and Frederick Nwabufor will serve as Coordinating Secretaries.

Segun Dada will head the New Media Directorate as Director, with Solomon Arowolo as Secretary.

Onanuga, who will also serve as Coordinating Director for Media and Strategic Communication, said five spokespersons had been appointed, led by Dele Alake. Others are Alwan Hassan, Ayobami Oyalowo, Kemi Asekun-Shittu and Adamu Fanda.

He said President Tinubu also encouraged leaders of the various directorates to reach out to other party members who were not included in the list but could contribute to the campaign.

The APC is expected to use the council to coordinate its nationwide campaign and consolidate its political structure ahead of the 2027 general elections.
