The Lagos State Ministry of Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation (WAPA) has trained 250 residents of Ibeju-Lekki in its latest round of the Life Skills Economic Empowerment Programme (LEEP), reinforcing the state’s commitment to grassroots empowerment and poverty reduction.
Speaking at the close of the four-week training, Commissioner for Women Affairs and Poverty Alleviation, Mrs. Bolaji Dada, said the initiative is part of ongoing efforts to equip vulnerable residents with practical, income-generating skills for economic self-reliance.
She noted that similar interventions had recently been delivered in Agbowa-Ikosi, Alagbado, and Lagos Island, with far-reaching impact.Mrs.
Dada highlighted that over 5,000 students had graduated from WAPA’s Skills Acquisition Centres across Lagos in recent weeks, describing the skills programmes as a central pillar in Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s drive to tackle unemployment and improve livelihoods.
She urged the Ibeju-Lekki beneficiaries not to “despise the days of early beginnings” but to build on their new skills to secure sustainable incomes.
