The African Democratic Congress (ADC) has scheduled its presidential primary for May 25, 2026, as part of its preparations for the 2027 general elections.
    ‎
‎Details of the timetable were contained in a document signed by the party’s National Organising Secretary, Chinedu Idigo, and released to journalists by the National Publicity Secretary, Bolaji Abdullahi.
    ‎
‎According to the schedule, the party will hold its governorship primaries on May 22, three days before the presidential exercise.
    ‎
‎The development comes shortly after the All Progressives Congress (APC) fixed its own presidential primary for May 23.
    ‎
‎The ADC also announced the cost of nomination and expression of interest forms for various offices.
    ‎
‎The presidential form is priced at N100 million, while governorship aspirants are to pay N50 million.
    ‎
‎Senate, House of Representatives and state House of Assembly forms were pegged at N20 million, N10 million and N3 million respectively.
    ‎
‎The timetable shows that the sale of forms will take place from May 5 to May 10, with submission of completed documents scheduled for May 11 to May 13.
    ‎
‎Screening of aspirants is expected to hold between May 14 and May 15, while results will be published on May 17. Appeals are slated for May 18 and May 19, with the final list of cleared aspirants to be released on May 20.
    ‎
‎Meanwhile, the Independent National Electoral Commission (INEC) has fixed January 16, 2027, for the presidential and National Assembly elections, while governorship and state assembly polls will hold on February 6, 2027.
    ‎
‎INEC also set April 23 to May 30, 2026, as the window for political parties to conduct primaries and resolve disputes.
    ‎
‎Campaigns for presidential and National Assembly elections will begin on August 19, 2026, while governorship and state assembly campaigns are scheduled to commence on September 9, 2026.
