A woman was fatally struck by a stray bullet on Tuesday night at Ibeto Junction in Nnewi, Anambra State.
According to sources, the incident happened when a member of the local vigilante group, Operation Udo Ga Chi, allegedly fired shots while attempting to navigate a traffic jam.
The source further said that the vigilante operative began shooting indiscriminately instead of assisting with traffic control. The woman was hit during the gunfire.
She was rushed to a nearby hospital, where she was later pronounced dead.In response, the Anambra State Government has identified and arrested the shooter, pledging to ensure justice is served.
