Lagos State Commissioner for Tertiary Education, Mr. Tolani Sule, has said that a dynamic and innovative civil service remains the engine of progress for the state.
He made the remark at the opening of a two-day Executive Leadership Training Programme for civil servants, organised by the Lagos State Government through the Ministry of Tertiary Education in collaboration with the Rome Business School Nigeria.
The training, held at the Marriot Hotel, Ikeja, is aimed at equipping public servants with modern leadership skills to meet the evolving demands of governance.
Sule explained that the initiative reflects the government’s commitment to building a public workforce that is both globally competitive and locally impactful.
He stressed that continuous investment in capacity building was critical to sustaining Lagos’ rapid growth and effective governance.
In his keynote address, the Head of Service, Mr. Bode Agoro, described the training as a bold step towards creating a forward-thinking and efficient civil service.
He urged participants to embrace innovation, network with peers, and translate the lessons learned into practical results across Ministries, Departments, and Agencies.
General Manager of Rome Business School Nigeria, Mr. Olakunle Asunmo, said the programme was tailored to sharpen decision-making skills, enhance efficiency, and improve service delivery.
He noted that the training would allow civil servants to apply real-world solutions that directly impact governance.
According to the Director of Public Affairs, Ministry of Tertiary Education, Mr. Mamud Hassan, the training demonstrates Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s commitment to bridging the gap between theory and practice in governance, while nurturing a new generation of competent leaders in Lagos State.
