The Katsina State Government has declared Monday, July 14, 2025, a public holiday in honour of the late former President Muhammadu Buhari.
This announcement was made by the Secretary to the State Government, Alhaji Abdullahi Garba Faskari, who said the decision was approved by Governor Dikko Umaru Radda to allow citizens time to mourn, reflect, and offer prayers for the repose of Buhari’s soul.
While expressing condolences to the bereaved family and the nation at large, Faskari described the late Buhari as “a great leader, a hero, a true democrat, and a patriotic elder statesman whose life was wholly dedicated to the service of Nigeria.”
He added “We have lost an icon whose name has become synonymous with discipline, integrity, and national service. May Allah (SWT) forgive his shortcomings and reward him with Aljannatul Firdaus.”
President Muhammadu Buhari, who hailed from Daura in Katsina State, served as both Nigeria’s military Head of State and later as a democratically elected President.
