Corps members serving in the Lagos State Ministry of Tourism, Arts and Culture are set to benefit from specialised creative industry training at the EbonyLife Academy, a move aimed at equipping young Nigerians with market-ready skills and boosting the State’s creative economy.
The Commissioner for Tourism, Arts and Culture, Mrs. Toke Benson-Awoyinka, made the announcement during a meeting with corps members from the Ministry and its agencies — the Lagos State Council for Arts and Culture (LASCAC) and the Lagos State Film and Video Censors Board (LSFVCB).
She said the training will cover photography, cinematography, scriptwriting, and music production, with corps members divided into three batches for rotational postings and formal training, enabling them to specialise in areas that align with their career aspirations.
According to the Commissioner, over 15,000 people have already received free training in various creative fields through partnerships between the Lagos State Government and private sector institutions, including EbonyLife Academy.
She urged corps members to act as brand ambassadors by sharing the State’s youth-focused initiatives, while also taking advantage of opportunities for personal and professional growth.
The Permanent Secretary, Mr. Olanrewaju Bajulaiye, encouraged them to embrace discipline and networking, while some corps members shared how their service year in the Ministry had broadened their skills and appreciation for Lagos’ cultural diversity.
