The Lagos State Government has announced plans to deepen collaboration with Old Students Associations across the state to boost the quality of education.
This was disclosed by the Permanent Secretary, Ministry of Basic and Secondary Education, Mrs. Bisola Dokunmu-Adegbite, during the 40th anniversary celebration of Jibowu High School’s 1985 set.
Dokunmu-Adegbite, who also serves as Permanent Secretary at the Audit Service Commission, said the initiative would promote public-private participation, identify areas of intervention, and develop policies to benefit students, schools, and the government.
She commended Governor Babajide Sanwo-Olu’s efforts in transforming the education sector and revealed plans to convene a stakeholders’ meeting involving representatives of Old Students Associations from all secondary schools in the state to strategize on advancing education.
At the event, alumni members appealed for the reinstatement of Jibowu High School as a senior secondary school, citing declining alumni engagement and student numbers since its conversion to a junior school.
The celebration also saw the 1985 set donate a laptop, drum set, and whiteboards to the school, with the principal, Mrs. Olasumbo Ogundeyin, expressing gratitude and pledging to ensure their proper use and maintenance
