The Lagos State Police Command has arrested four suspected members of an armed robbery syndicate operating around Iju-Ishaga and Oke-Aro areas of the state, recovering 25 mobile phones, two laptops, gold jewellery and three cutlasses.
The suspects; Damilare Oluwatobi, 28; Lekan Adenuga, 30; Haruna Sheriff, 22; and David Balogun, 24, were arrested at their hideout in Idi-Oro, Mushin, following sustained intelligence gathering by operatives of the Command’s Violent Crime Response Unit (VCRU).
The Command’s Public Relations Officer, SP Abimbola Adebisi, disclosed this in a statement on Tuesday, saying the arrests followed credible intelligence on the activities of the suspected syndicate.
She said the operatives conducted a search of the suspects’ hideout, leading to the recovery of 25 mobile phones, two laptop computers, a gold necklace, earrings and three cutlasses.
According to Adebisi, the suspects are currently in police custody and are assisting investigators with the ongoing investigation.
She added that efforts were being intensified to apprehend other members of the syndicate who may be connected to the alleged criminal activities.
Adebisi quoted the Commissioner of Police, Lagos State Command, CP Tijani Fatai, as commending the VCRU operatives for their swift response, intelligence-led investigation and successful arrest of the suspects.
“The Commissioner reaffirmed the Command’s commitment to dismantling criminal networks across the state and ensuring the safety and security of residents,” she said.
The police spokesperson said the Commissioner also urged members of the public to remain vigilant and promptly report suspicious activities to the police.
