Concerned about the health and environmental impact of excessive noise during festive celebrations, the Lagos State Environmental Protection Agency (LASEPA) is set to engage hospitality and entertainment operators at a one-day stakeholders’ workshop ahead of Christmas.
The workshop, scheduled for Friday, December 19, 2025, is aimed at sensitising stakeholders on the health and environmental implications of excessive noise, especially during the festive period. It will be held at the State Treasury Office Resource Centre, Assbifi Road, Alausa, Ikeja, from 8am.
Speaking on the initiative, Adesoye Oyelami, Deputy Director, LASEPA, said the programme, titled “Harmonising the Hospitality Industry with the Environment” and themed “Effective Noise Control and Compliance”, would bring together owners and operators of nightclubs, event centres, hotels, bars, lounges, restaurants, DJs and other related businesses.
According to Oyelami, the workshop will help operators understand and comply with existing environmental laws, avoid sanctions and run their businesses responsibly before, during and after the yuletide. He noted that participants would receive practical guidance on noise management, responsible operations and environmental best practices needed to sustain a safe and harmonious urban environment.
He added that the event is expected to attract top government officials, including the Commissioner for the Environment and Water Resources, Mr Tokunbo Wahab; the Special Adviser to the Governor on Environment, Engr Olakunle Rotimi; and the Permanent Secretary, Office of Environmental Services, Dr Omobolaji Tajudeen Gaji, alongside heads of ministries, departments and agencies.
While urging stakeholders in the hospitality and entertainment sectors to participate fully, Oyelami said the workshop is designed to improve compliance, promote sustainability and support the continued growth of the industry in Lagos State.
He assured residents that LASEPA is working round the clock to ensure a peaceful, quiet and noise-controlled yuletide, and called on Lagosians to support the government’s drive towards a cleaner, safer and pollution-free environment.
