The National Drug Law Enforcement Agency (NDLEA) has uncovered and dismantled a social media–based drug distribution ring that packaged illicit substances as imported Christmas cookies and snacks, arresting two masterminds during a raid in Lekki, Lagos.
The development was disclosed in a statement issued on Sunday by Femi Babafemi, Director, Media & Advocacy, who said the syndicate used designer cookie labels to disguise retail quantities of Canadian Loud, a potent strain of cannabis.
According to the statement, operatives raided an apartment on Ojulari Street, Ikate, Lekki on November 22, 2025, following credible intelligence on the network’s operations through a WhatsApp channel.
“The drug syndicate run by the duo of Deji Adesanya and Olubiyi Majekodunmi had imported consignments of Canadian Loud and a variety of colourful designer sachets branded with pictures and labels of cookies and snacks, used to package the psychoactive substance in retail quantities,” Babafemi said.
During the operation, operatives recovered a large consignment of the branded sachets and 5kg of Canadian Loud.
In a separate operation, NDLEA operatives arrested 38-year-old drug kingpin, Philip Ucheka, in the Ladipo area of Mushin, while he was taking delivery of 110 pouches of Canadian Loud weighing 55.6kg. Three delivery vehicles tied to the distribution network were also seized.
At a courier firm in the state, officers intercepted 100 grams of Loud concealed in a teddy bear imported from Thailand. Another logistics company was flagged after 548 capsules of Tramadol hidden inside Vitamin C and Magnesium bottles destined for the United Kingdom were intercepted.
Babafemi said the operations reflect the agency’s sustained push against drug trafficking networks nationwide.
“These arrests and seizures demonstrate the NDLEA’s commitment to dismantling criminal syndicates and intercepting illicit substances before they penetrate our communities,” he added.
The agency urged Nigerians to continue providing credible information to support ongoing counter-narcotics efforts.
