The Ogun State Government has entered into a landmark partnership with two leading Renewable Energy Service Companies (RESCOs) to generate about 1,100 megawatts of solar power as part of efforts to strengthen the state’s industrial base and promote sustainable development.
The partnership involves Tranos Contracting Limited, which will establish a 600MW solar panel manufacturing plant and battery pack facility, and Vision Gas and Power Limited, which will set up a 500MW solar panel manufacturing plant with the potential for future expansion to 1 gigawatt (1GW).
The agreement was formalized at the instance of the Vice President of Nigeria, Senator Kashim Shettima, on behalf of President Bola Tinubu, during the Nigeria Renewable Energy Innovation Forum (NREIF) 2025, held between October 14 and 15, 2025, at the Transcorp Hilton Hotel, Abuja.
In a statement, the Special Adviser to the Ogun State Governor on Information and Strategy, Mr. Kayode Akinmade, said the forum — convened by the Federal Ministry of Power in collaboration with the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP), the National Agency for Science and Engineering Infrastructure (NASENI), and the Alliance for Rural Electrification (ARE) — served as Nigeria’s premier platform for advancing renewable energy innovation and manufacturing.
Themed “Implementing the Nigeria First Policy: Facilitating Local Content Development and Manufacturing in the Renewable Energy Ecosystem”, NREIF 2025 brought together global leaders, investors, and policymakers to shape the future of renewable energy production in Nigeria.
According to Akinmade, the partnership is a major step toward positioning Ogun State as a front-runner in clean energy innovation, industrial readiness, and inclusive economic growth.
“These partnerships will ultimately spotlight Ogun State as a leader in innovation, industrial readiness, and inclusive growth, while affirming our commitment to economic diversification and environmental sustainability,” Akinmade stated.
He added that the initiative aligns with Governor Dapo Abiodun’s long-term vision of attracting investments that drive economic expansion, create jobs, and make Ogun a model of innovation and sustainable development.“By expanding local capacity for clean energy production, we are reducing dependence on imports and laying a foundation for inclusive industrial growth,” he noted.
Akinmade further emphasized that the Abiodun-led administration remains committed to creating an enabling environment for private-sector investments that promote clean energy transition, support industrial clusters, and enhance the competitiveness of Ogun’s economy.
