The Kebbi State Police Command has arrested a suspected cattle rustler, Salihu Umar, 42, of Dogon Dutse area, Niger Republic, who was nabbed at the Bachaka cattle market with 10 stolen cows.
According to CSP Nafiu Abubakar, the Command’s Public Relations Officer, the cows were traced to Usman Aliyu of Zogirma town, Bunza LGA, whose 68 cows had earlier been rustled on August 20, 2025, by suspected Lakurawa bandits who fled into Niger Republic.
Abubakar disclosed that the Commissioner of Police, Kebbi State Command, CP Bello M. Sani, commended the Divisional Police Officer, Bachaka, and his team for their bravery and intelligence-led policing that led to the arrest.
He added that the CP has directed the transfer of the case to the State Criminal Investigation Department (SCID), Birnin Kebbi, for discreet investigation aimed at arresting the fleeing gang members and recovering more stolen cattle.
“The Command remains resolute in its onslaught against violent crimes to ensure peace and stability in Kebbi State. We appeal to residents to remain vigilant and provide timely, credible information to aid security operations,” Abubakar stated.
