The Lagos State Police Command has recovered a 2025 Mercedes-Benz GLE 350 SUV, valued at about ₦200 million, which was stolen at gunpoint from Akin-Olugbade Street, Victoria Island, on Saturday, November 1, 2025.
The black luxury vehicle, with registration number WTO 21 AM and Vehicle Identification Number (VIN) 4JGFB4FB8SB274117, was snatched by a four-man gang who reportedly fired a warning shot to disperse bystanders before speeding off toward the Ozumba Mbadiwe axis.
Confirming the development in a post on X (formerly Twitter) on Monday, the Public Relations Officer of the Lagos State Police Command, SP Abimbola Adebisi, said the vehicle had been successfully recovered and that investigation into the armed robbery was ongoing.
“The vehicle has been promptly recovered by operatives of the Lagos State Police Command, and the individuals responsible have been identified. Investigation is currently ongoing, and the outcome will be communicated in due course,” Adebisi stated.
Eyewitnesses said the robbers arrived while the SUV was parked with the driver inside, forced him out at gunpoint, and fled the scene.
A senior officer attached to the Victoria Island Division said a full-scale manhunt was immediately launched, with the vehicle placed on both the Lagos State and national security watchlists, leading to its swift recovery.
The recovered SUV was described as black metallic with factory-tinted windows, brown leather interior, LED headlamps, AMG alloy wheels, and a distinctive chrome front grille.
Adebisi assured the public that the command remains committed to tracking down criminal elements and ensuring the safety of lives and property across the state.
