Lagos State Governor, Babajide Sanwo-Olu, has directed all newly inaugurated Local Government and Local Council Development Area (LCDA) chairmen and vice chairmen to immediately reverse all political appointments made since assuming office—except for that of the Chief of Staff.
The directive was communicated through a formal letter dated July 31, 2025, and signed by the Permanent Secretary of the Ministry of Local Government, Chieftaincy Affairs and Rural Development, Mrs. Kikelomo Bolarinwa.
The correspondence, addressed to the 20 Local Government and 37 LCDA chairmen, emphasized the governor’s firm stance on compliance with due process in political appointments.
According to the letter, Governor Sanwo-Olu had earlier made his position clear during the swearing-in ceremony, warning against unauthorized appointments of Supervisors, Special Advisers, and Senior Special Assistants.
“The appointment of the Chief of Staff is the only appointment approved/permissible as you assume office,” Bolarinwa reiterated.
She added that all other appointments should be stepped down until further instructions are given.
