Tinubu Hails Gov Otu at 66, Commends ‘People First’ AgendaPresident Bola Ahmed Tinubu has congratulated the Governor of Cross River State, Senator Bassey Edet Otu, on the occasion of his 66th birthday, praising his record of leadership, service, and commitment to the public good.
The President, in a statement issued by his Special Adviser on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, joined members of the Otu family, friends, and associates in celebrating what he described as “a legacy of people-centred governance anchored on service and development.”
President Tinubu lauded Governor Otu for placing citizens at the core of governance through his People First agenda, which prioritises human capital development and strategic investments in education, health, food security, and cultural empowerment.
He commended the Governor’s strides in education, citing the establishment of the University of Education and Entrepreneurship and the College of Agriculture, which he said are “preparing a new generation of skilled professionals to drive sustainable growth in Cross River State.”
The President also praised Otu’s pursuit of industrialisation through the Special Agro-Industrial Processing Zone in Adiabo, an initiative supported by the African Development Bank (AfDB), aligning with the Federal Government’s vision to strengthen value chains, boost exports, and create jobs for Nigerian youth.
Expressing confidence in the future of Cross River under Otu’s leadership, President Tinubu noted that ongoing infrastructural projects such as the proposed Bakassi Deep Seaport, the 700km Coastal Highway linking Calabar to Lagos, the 450km Trans-Sahara Superhighway to Abuja, as well as the River Port and Free Trade Zone, will transform the state into a major hub for commerce, logistics, and tourism in West Africa.
