The Minister of the Federal Capital Territory (FCT), Nyesom Wike, has approved the immediate promotion of more than 2,000 workers of the Federal Capital Development Authority (FCDA) and the Federal Capital Territory Administration (FCTA).
The approval was disclosed on Wednesday in Abuja by the Chairman of the FCT Civil Service Commission, Emeka Ezeh, while briefing journalists on the outcome of the 2025 promotion exercise.
Ezeh said the promotion exercise cut across 165 cadres and followed a computer-based test (CBT) conducted on November 29, 2025, describing the process as transparent, merit-driven and technology-enabled.
According to him, the large-scale promotion reflects the FCT Minister’s resolve to prioritise staff welfare and ensure steady career progression within the FCT civil service.
“This promotion is a clear demonstration of the Honourable Minister’s commitment to the welfare, motivation and professional advancement of workers in the FCT,” Ezeh said.
The commission chairman urged civil servants to begin early preparation for subsequent promotion exercises slated for 2025 and 2026, stressing that advancement would continue to be based strictly on merit.
“Only diligent, committed and hardworking staff will be promoted,” he warned.
Ezeh further disclosed that the commission would sustain the use of computer-based promotion examinations, noting that the digital system was approved by the FCT Minister to enhance efficiency, transparency and credibility in the promotion process.
“The continuous deployment of the CBT platform will further deepen the reforms in our promotion examinations and strengthen confidence in the system,” he added.
He assured that the FCT Civil Service Commission remains committed to institutional reforms aimed at improving service delivery and boosting productivity across the FCTA and its agencies.
