The Teaching Service Commission (TESCOM) has held the third edition of its annual One-Day Colloquium to herald the World Teachers’ Day celebration, which is commemorated globally every 5th of October.
The event took place today at Ikeja Senior Secondary School, Bolade, Oshodi.
In her keynote address, the Chairman of the Commission, Mrs. Mopelola Peregrino, emphasized the importance of policy formulation aimed at boosting teachers’ morale, enhancing job satisfaction, and improving overall performance within the teaching profession.
The colloquium featured presentations from various departments of TESCOM, where speakers enlightened participants on their respective activities and how these directly impact the working conditions and professional growth of teachers.
The guest speaker, Dr. Olatunde Isaac, delivered a lecture on the theme of this year’s event: “Impact of Industrial Relations Policies on Teachers’ Performance.”
He underscored the critical role of sound industrial relations in ensuring a motivated and productive teaching workforce.
Also present was the Chairman of the Nigeria Union of Teachers (NUT), Lagos State Chapter, Comrade Hassan Akintoye, who commended TESCOM for its consistent efforts in addressing issues central to teachers’ welfare and professional development.
The annual One-Day Colloquium is a flagship initiative of TESCOM, designed to enlighten and educate teachers on topical issues affecting their well-being, professional advancement, and overall contribution to national development.
