LAWMA Revokes Licences of Underperforming PSP Operators, Restructures Routes
    ‎
‎The Lagos Waste Management Authority has revoked the licences of several underperforming PSP operators and restructured collection routes to enhance waste management efficiency across the state.
    ‎
‎LAWMA’s Director of Public Affairs, Mukaila Sanusi in a statement on Saturday said the decision followed a comprehensive operational review aimed at aligning operator capacity with the growing waste management demands of a rapidly expanding megacity.
    ‎
‎Sanusi noted that the affected operators failed to meet established service delivery standards, making regulatory intervention necessary.
    ‎
‎“The action was taken in the interest of public health and environmental sustainability,” Sanusi stated, adding that “operators who consistently fall short of required performance benchmarks cannot be retained within the system.”
    ‎
‎Those affected by the licence withdrawal include KENNY JPS in Igando-Ikotun (Egan II), CLEAN CRAFT NIG LIMITED in Igando-Ikotun (Isheri-Oshun I), DOVEROOST LTD in Eti-Osa West, DEWAYLS in Orade (Ijegun Emure), and PESJOY VENTURES in Ejigbo (Bucknor II).
    ‎
‎Sanusi explained that, alongside the enforcement action, it had introduced a realignment of waste collection routes in areas experiencing rapid population growth and increased waste generation.
    ‎
‎“In locations where development has outpaced the capacity of a single operator, it becomes necessary to redistribute operational responsibilities to guarantee timely and effective service delivery,” he stated.
    ‎
‎Under the new arrangement, existing operators will retain portions of their routes, while additional operators have been deployed to complement their capacity and ensure more efficient coverage.
    ‎
‎Areas affected by the realignment include parts of Isolo (Ishaga/Ire Akari axis) managed by Shekaz Global Limited, and Ikorodu (Lowa) under KRESTABOL Waste Management.
    ‎
‎LAWMA also disclosed that some operators voluntarily relinquished their routes, enabling the authority to reassign those areas to more capable firms.
    ‎
‎“This provides an opportunity to strengthen service delivery by matching operational demands with proven capacity,” it added.
    ‎
‎Operators in this category include Ayolade Oluwabukola Enterprises in Lagos Island East (Ajele axis) and Imperium Waste Services in Ayoobo/Ipaja (Slot B).
    ‎
‎The authority emphasised that the restructuring exercise was a strategic intervention designed to strengthen the PSP framework, improve accountability, and ensure that waste management services keep pace with Lagos’ rapid urbanisation.
    ‎
‎“This exercise underscores our commitment to continuous monitoring, enforcement, and stakeholder engagement in delivering a cleaner and healthier environment,” LAWMA stated.
    ‎
‎Residents were urged to cooperate with newly assigned operators and to patronise only LAWMA-accredited PSP operators, noting that “collective responsibility remains key to achieving a sustainable waste management system in Lagos.”
    ‎
