Operatives of the Enugu State Police Command attached to the Anti-Cultism Tactical Squad have arrested six male suspects over their alleged involvement in the forceful initiation of victims into the Supreme Vikings Confraternity in Enugu State.
The arrests were made on December 5, 2025, following credible intelligence that led operatives to a forest at Ugwu Peak, Iva Valley, in Enugu North Local Government Area.
Confirming the development, the Police Public Relations Officer of the command, SP Daniel Ndukwe, said the suspects were involved in an initiation ceremony carried out on November 25, 2025.
According to him, operatives recovered one locally made double-barrelled pistol, four cutlasses allegedly used for the criminal activities, and two empty bottles of Squadron rum reportedly consumed during the initiation exercise.
“The suspects were arrested following actionable intelligence. During the operation, a locally made double-barrelled pistol, four cutlasses, and two empty bottles of Squadron rum used for the initiation were recovered,” Ndukwe said.
He identified the suspects as Edeh Francis Chigbo, alias Saint (22); Ogbu Fabulous, alias Nwakanwa (23); Odom Chiemerie, alias Coded (28); Nweke Anayo, alias Chaplet (22); Obumneme Obiechina, alias Biggy (30); and Chigozie Ugbene, alias God Bless (20).
Ndukwe stated that the suspects confessed to being members of the secret cult group and to their involvement in the alleged criminal acts.
“They have all confessed to their membership of the Supreme Vikings Confraternity and their roles in the forceful initiation. They will be arraigned in court upon the conclusion of investigations,” he added.
The Commissioner of Police, CP Mamman Giwa reaffirmed the command’s commitment to ridding the state of unrepentant criminals and curbing cult-related activities, especially during the festive season and beyond.
He urged residents to remain law-abiding, vigilant and to continue cooperating with the police by promptly reporting criminal and suspicious activities to security agencies.
