Popular but controversial musician, Habeeb Okikiola, popularly known as Portable, will remain in custody until Monday, January 19, 2026, following his arraignment before the Ogun State High Court sitting in Onipanu, Ota.
The singer was on Monday arraigned on a nine-count charge bordering on alleged stealing, assault, felony occasioning harm and resisting arrest.
Portable, who appeared visibly emotional in court, is accused of attacking one of his wives, Ashabi Simple, as well as some police officers during an incident that allegedly occurred on New Year’s Day at his Odogwu Bar in the Iyana Ilogbo area of Ogun State.
The prosecution told the court that several other individuals, Ileyemi Damilola, Akinyanju Oluwabusayomi, Olowu Olumide, Demilade Ogunniyi and Ebuka Odah, were also allegedly assaulted by the singer and others who are currently at large.
According to the charge sheet, Portable is further accused of stealing a Mercedes-Benz E300 with dealer number WAlly Dex Auto D/3 597 DOG, valued at ₦12 million, belonging to Ileyemi Damilola David.
The prosecution alleged that the defendants inflicted injuries on Ileyemi Damilola with an axe during the incident.
The singer was also accused of obstructing a female police officer, W/Inspector Ogungbe Olayemi, from carrying out her official duties and allegedly assaulting her in the course of the incident.
Portable was arrested a few days ago after reportedly evading arrest following the January 1 incident involving his estranged partner and her sibling.
Although Ashabi Simple was not present in court, two of her siblings, who claimed to be eyewitnesses to the alleged assault, were in attendance.
The prosecutor informed the court that the offences are punishable under Sections 516, 351, 383, 389 and 390 of the Criminal Code Laws of Ogun State, 2006.
Counsel to the defendant applied for bail, but the application was declined due to the absence of the allegedly assaulted police officer in court.
The presiding judge insisted on seeing the officer before considering the bail application and subsequently ordered that Portable be remanded in custody until January 19, when the bail request will be determined.
