Ogun State Governor, Prince Dapo Abiodun, has welcomed the rescue of the schoolchildren and teachers abducted in Oriire Local Government Area of Oyo State, commending President Bola Tinubu, the security agencies and the Oyo State Government for their roles in securing the victims’ freedom.
In a statement on Friday, Abiodun described the successful operation as a demonstration of the Federal Government’s resolve to combat kidnapping and other violent crimes, noting that the safe rescue of the victims validated President Tinubu’s assurance that every effort would be made to secure their release.
The governor also praised the coordinated efforts of the Armed Forces, the Nigeria Police Force, the Department of State Services (DSS) and other security personnel involved in the operation, describing their professionalism and dedication as instrumental to its success.
“This operation has demonstrated that under the leadership of President Bola Ahmed Tinubu, there will be no safe haven for criminal elements. It is a clear signal that those who choose the path of kidnapping, banditry and other violent crimes will be relentlessly pursued, apprehended or neutralised in accordance with the law,” Abiodun said.
He further commended Oyo State Governor Seyi Makinde for working closely with the Federal Government and security agencies throughout the victims’ captivity, saying the collaboration contributed significantly to the successful outcome.
According to Abiodun, the rescue operation reinforces the importance of sustained collaboration among the Federal Government, state governments and security agencies in tackling security challenges across the country.
He urged Nigerians to continue supporting security agencies by providing credible and timely intelligence to help prevent criminal activities, while expressing confidence in ongoing efforts to strengthen the nation’s security architecture.
The governor reaffirmed Ogun State’s commitment to working with the Federal Government, neighbouring states and security agencies to combat crime across the South-West and ensure that criminal elements find no refuge in the region.
Abiodun congratulated President Tinubu, Governor Makinde, the leadership of the security agencies and all personnel involved in the operation, expressing confidence that the successful rescue would further strengthen efforts to improve security and safeguard lives and property across the country.
