The Ekiti APC campaign council has set its sights beyond the June 20 governorship election, unveiling an ambitious strategy targeting at least 500,000 votes and laying the groundwork for 2027 victories.
The blueprint was unveiled by the Senate Leader and Chairman of the Ekiti State 2026 Governorship Campaign Council, Senator Opeyemi Bamidele, after a high-level meeting of the council in Ado Ekiti on Wednesday.
Bamidele said the campaign would not only focus on securing victory for Governor Biodun Oyebanji at the polls but would also serve as a strategic platform to position the All Progressives Congress (APC) for subsequent elections in the state.
“We are not just running a campaign for June 20; we are laying a solid foundation for future elections, including the 2027 general polls,” he said.
He emphasised that the council would adopt an inclusive, transparent and well-coordinated approach designed to resonate with voters across all demographics in the state.
“We will run an inclusive and credible campaign that will not only deliver victory for our candidate but also deepen engagement with the electorate and strengthen our structures across the state,” Bamidele added.
The Senate Leader disclosed that the campaign would go beyond conventional politicking, incorporating activities aimed at energising voters and boosting participation.
“This will not just be a campaign; it will be a movement that stimulates the interest of the average voter and reinforces confidence in our party and its leadership,” he said.
Bamidele expressed strong confidence in Governor Oyebanji’s chances, citing the administration’s performance as a key advantage.
“The governor’s achievements across sectors have positioned him strongly before the electorate. We believe that these accomplishments will translate into overwhelming support at the polls,” he noted.
He further revealed that the campaign council had been carefully constituted to ensure broad-based representation and effective grassroots mobilisation.
“We have put in place a structure that cuts across all local governments and wards to guarantee that our message reaches every corner of Ekiti State,” he said.
In his remarks, Governor Oyebanji expressed satisfaction with the level of preparation and coordination within the campaign council, noting that the groundwork already laid would play a critical role in the party’s success.
“The level of planning and mobilisation we are seeing gives us confidence that we are on the right path to victory,” the governor said.
He commended party leaders and stakeholders for their commitment, urging them to sustain the momentum and intensify engagement with the electorate.
Also speaking, the Director General of the Campaign Council, Senator Cyril Fasuyi, described the 500,000 vote target as both realistic and necessary.
“Anything short of 500,000 votes will fall below our expectations. Our goal is to secure a decisive and convincing mandate from the people,” Fasuyi said.
He added that the campaign machinery had been fully activated across the state, with structures in place to ensure effective mobilisation at the grassroots level.
“We have deployed our teams across all wards and local governments to ensure robust voter engagement and participation,” he said.
The APC campaign council reiterated its commitment to running an issue-based campaign that highlights the achievements of the Oyebanji administration while presenting a clear vision for the future of Ekiti State.
With weeks to the governorship election, the party appears poised to leverage incumbency performance, strategic planning and grassroots mobilisation in its bid to secure a landslide victory and consolidate its political dominance ahead of 2027.
