President Bola Tinubu has appointed former Ekiti State Governor, Ayodele Fayose, as Chairman of the Rural Electrification Agency (REA), entrusting the former governor with providing strategic leadership for the agency’s rural electrification mandate.
Fayose’s appointment is part of a broader approval by the President of 26 appointments into the boards and management of 10 federal government agencies and commissions, with all the appointments taking immediate effect.
In a statement issued on Monday, the Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy, Bayo Onanuga, said Fayose would chair the REA Board alongside Alhaji Ahmadu Abubakar and Engineer Ilyasu Ibrahim Makinta, who were appointed as members and non-executive directors.
According to the statement, the board also comprises the agency’s Director-General, Abba Abubakar Aliyu, and three executive directors previously appointed, completing the composition of the REA leadership.
Announcing the appointments, Onanuga said: “President Bola Ahmed Tinubu has approved the appointment of 26 persons into the boards and management of 10 Federal Government agencies and commissions. The appointments take immediate effect.”
He said the appointments were aimed at strengthening governance and improving service delivery across key public institutions, adding that the appointees were carefully selected to provide strategic leadership and enhance the effectiveness of their respective agencies
