In a move aimed at strengthening emergency medical response at the grassroots, the Lagos State Government is exploring a partnership with Simba Group Companies on a tricycle-based ambulance initiative.
The Lagos State Commissioner for Transportation, Mr. Oluwaseun Osiyemi, received a delegation from Simba Group Companies at the Ministry of Transportation’s office in Alausa, Ikeja.
The delegation was led by Mr. Kamkesh Pitale and Mr. Charles Okah, who presented a three-wheeler ambulance and a specially designed tricycle to the Ministry.
The initiative is designed to improve mobility and access to emergency medical services in rural and underserved communities across Lagos State.
According to social media post on the ministry’s handle @Lagostransport2018, the tricycle ambulance’s compact design allows it to navigate congested areas and reach patients in locations where conventional ambulances may struggle to access.
Speaking on the purpose of the project, the delegation noted that the deployment of tricycle ambulances will not only raise community awareness about emergency medical services but also foster trust and engagement with local residents.
The ambulances are suitable for use in offices, primary healthcare centres, medical outreach programmes, and emergency situations at public spaces such as football pitches.
Commissioner Osiyemi while welcoming the initiative, reiterated the State Government’s openness to collaborations that support efficient mobility and public safety.
He assured that further discussions would be held to ensure any proposed partnership aligns with the state’s transportation policies and effectively addresses the unique mobility and health needs of Lagos residents.
The tricycle-based ambulance project reflects ongoing efforts by the State Government to adopt innovative transport solutions that enhance emergency response, improve service delivery, and strengthen the quality of life in local communities.
