The Lagos State Wastewater Management Office (LSWMO) has sealed a property located at No. 229 Moshood Abiola Way, Ijora, following confirmed reports of deliberate discharge of untreated sewage into public drains using a pumping machine.
The enforcement action follows multiple complaints from residents about persistent offensive odours and environmental hazards in the area.General Manager of the Agency, Engr. Adefemi Afolabi, described the act as a serious environmental offence that not only pollutes the surroundings but also endangers public health by exposing residents to communicable diseases.
He stressed that Lagos State maintains a zero-tolerance policy towards environmental pollution and called on residents to adopt proper wastewater management practices to safeguard both health and the environment.
Reiterating the agency’s commitment to sustaining a clean and healthy Lagos, Afolabi warned that any act of environmental nuisance would attract strict sanctions and possible prosecution.
He urged members of the public to promptly report such incidents through LSWMO’s official hotlines — 08022022397, 07025332163 — or via its social media platforms to support the state’s environmental protection efforts.
