Operatives of the National Drug Law Enforcement Agency have arrested three persons living with disabilities, including a 60-year-old man, in separate anti-narcotics operations across Anambra and Kwara states.

The arrests formed part of a series of interdiction operations conducted by the agency across several states, leading to the seizure of large quantities of illicit substances and the dismantling of suspected drug distribution networks.

‎NDLEA’s Director of Media and Advocacy, Femi Babafemi, disclosed this in a statement issued on Sunday.

According to Babafemi, the 60-year-old suspect, Romanus Nwabara, was arrested on Wednesday, May 6, 2026, following credible intelligence that led operatives to Akpaka Forest in Onitsha, Anambra State.

‎Babafemi said, “Nwabara was traced to Akpaka Forest, Onitsha, where he was found with 250 grams of skunk packaged in retail sachets.”

‎In another operation in Anambra State, NDLEA officers on Thursday, May 7, arrested a 25-year-old suspect identified as Amos Kenneth during a raid at Ogbunike area of the state.

‎The agency said the suspect was found in possession of “160.3 grams of Tramadol 225mg and 100mg, 80 pills of Diazepam, 38.23 grams of Exol-5 and 176.93 grams of skunk.”

‎Similarly, operatives on patrol along Bode Saadu in Kwara State intercepted a commercial vehicle on Friday, May 8, where another suspect, Usman Salisu, was allegedly caught with 6.3 kilograms of skunk concealed in a brown school bag.

‎Babafemi noted that the operations were part of sustained efforts by the agency to curb the circulation of illicit drugs across the country.

‎In Lagos State, operatives of the Special Operations Unit raided a mansion located at 36 African Lane, Lekki Phase 1, allegedly used as a drug stash house.

‎The NDLEA spokesman said, “A total of 4,000 parcels of Loud, a strong strain of imported cannabis weighing 2,326 kilograms with an estimated street value of over N5.815 billion were recovered from the mansion.”

‎He added that two Mercedes-Benz buses and various designer packaging materials used for retail distribution of the illicit substance were also recovered during the operation.

‎In Nasarawa State, a 38-year-old suspect, Emmanuel Osita Okeke, was arrested at Nyanya Karu with 129 kilograms of skunk, while operatives along the Okene/Lokoja highway in Kogi State intercepted a commuter bus conveying 76 jumbo bags of skunk weighing 766 kilograms.

‎Three suspects identified as Mathew Omohove, Ebuka Desmond and Babangida Musa were arrested in connection with the Kogi seizure.

‎The agency also uncovered a makeshift skuchies production factory at Ijora Badia area of Lagos, where two suspects, Bose Jamiu and Gbenga Gege, were allegedly caught “cooking cannabis and mixing same with other illicit substances.”

“A total of 270 litres of already produced skuchies and 106 grams of Tramadol 225mg were recovered from them,” Babafemi stated.

Beyond enforcement operations, the NDLEA said its Commands and formations across the country continued advocacy campaigns under its War Against Drug Abuse initiative.

‎The sensitisation activities held in schools, worship centres and communities in states including Nasarawa, Ekiti, Enugu, Abia, Lagos, Akwa Ibom, Kano and Oyo.

While commending officers involved in the various operations, Chairman and Chief Executive Officer of the NDLEA, Brig. Gen. Mohamed Buba Marwa (retd.), praised the balance between enforcement and preventive advocacy.

‎Marwa said the agency’s “drug supply reduction efforts are being effectively balanced with WADA sensitisation activities,” while urging officers across the country to sustain the current momentum.
