The Ogun State Police Command has recovered the vehicle belonging to former Ogun State Television (OGTV) broadcaster, Kitan Oyesiku, in what authorities described as a significant breakthrough in the ongoing investigation into her death and that of her security guard.

Oyesiku and her security guard were recently found dead at her residence in Iyana Agodo Village, located in the Owode Egba area of Ogun State, under circumstances that have continued to attract public attention and concern.

The Command’s Public Relations Officer, DSP Oluseyi Babseyi, disclosed in a statement that the missing vehicle, a Lexus RX300, was recovered during a police operation conducted overnight as detectives intensified efforts to unravel the circumstances surrounding the killings.

As part of the investigation, the Commissioner of Police, Ogun State Command, CP Lanre Ogunlowo, visited the residence of the deceased for an on-the-spot assessment and a firsthand review of ongoing investigative efforts.

During the visit, the police commissioner inspected the crime scene and received briefings from detectives handling the case.

The statement said: “Further to the ongoing investigation into the circumstances surrounding the deaths of retired broadcaster, Ms Kitan Oyesiku, and her security guard, the Commissioner of Police today visited the scene of the incident for an on-the-spot assessment and to personally evaluate the progress of the investigation.

“It is worthy of note that the vehicle earlier reported missing from the residence, a Lexus RX300, has been recovered by police operatives during a night operation. The vehicle has since been secured as part of the ongoing investigation.”

The police command said the commissioner also commiserated with the family of the deceased and reassured residents that all available resources were being deployed to identify, apprehend and prosecute those responsible for the crime.

According to the statement, investigators have continued to make progress, with additional updates expected as inquiries advance.

The command had earlier launched a full-scale investigation after a resident reportedly alerted authorities to suspicious activities at Oyesiku’s residence.

Detectives from the Owode Egba Division who responded to the scene reportedly discovered signs of forced entry and evidence suggesting a violent intrusion into the property.

Police said the body of the security guard was found inside the security post, while Oyesiku’s remains were later discovered inside her apartment.

At the time of the discovery, the victim’s Lexus RX300 was missing from the premises, leading investigators to suspect that the attackers may have fled with the vehicle after carrying out the attack.

Following the incident, the Commissioner of Police ordered a comprehensive investigation, directing detectives to deploy intelligence-gathering and surveillance resources to track down those responsible.

Oyesiku, a respected media practitioner and former staff member of Ogun State Television, was widely known within broadcasting circles in the state.

Her death has sparked grief among colleagues, media professionals and residents, many of whom have called for a thorough investigation and swift justice for the victims.
