President Bola Tinubu has nominated Dr. Bernard Doro from Plateau State as a Minister of the Federal Republic of Nigeria and forwarded his name to the Senate for confirmation.
The nomination fills the vacancy created by the appointment of Prof. Nentawe Goshwe Yilwatda, former Minister of Humanitarian Affairs and Poverty Reduction, as the National Chairman of the All Progressives Congress (APC) in July.
The development was announced in a statement on Tuesday by Bayo Onanuga, Special Adviser to the President on Information and Strategy.
Born on January 23, 1969, in Kwall, Bassa Local Government Area of Plateau State, Dr. Doro is a professional with over two decades of experience spanning clinical practice, pharmaceutical management, strategic leadership, and community development in both the United Kingdom and Nigeria.
According to Onanuga, Doro holds degrees in Pharmacy and Law, an MBA with a focus on IT-driven business strategy, and a Master’s in Advanced Clinical Practice.
He is also an Independent Prescriber and Advanced Clinical Practitioner with extensive NHS frontline experience across urgent care, walk-in centres, GP practices, and hospitals in the UK.
Beyond his professional background, Doro has been involved in youth mentorship and social impact initiatives within the Nigerian diaspora and local communities.
If confirmed by the Senate, he will be sworn in at a forthcoming Federal Executive Council (FEC) meeting and formally join President Tinubu’s cabinet.
